GIRL SCOUTS (JRS)

  • Saint Francis Wolf Sanctuary 6731 Pavlock Road Navasota, TX, 77868 United States (map)

Wolf Habitats (Animal Habitats Badge, Grades 4-5)

While at SFWS, Scouts will also learn about the importance of enrichment for captive wild animals, and help us create enrichment items for our animals to enjoy.

  • If any minors in your party will not have their parent/guardian present, you MUST bring a Release Form signed by their parent/guardian with you when you arrive. The form can be found here [pdf].

Saint Francis Wolf Sanctuary offers a Girl Scouts Program for Juniors! During the session, Scouts will have an opportunity to learn about:

  • The wolves and wolfdogs of SFWS, and why they could not live in a wild habitat

  • Gray wolves (Canis lupus) and other wolf species

  • What habitats are suitable for wolves, focusing on the Yellowstone Wolf Project, the red wolves (Canis rufus) of North Carolina, and the Mexican gray wolf reintroduction project

  • How wolves help balance the ecosystems and habitats where they live, as demonstrated by the reintroduction of wolves to the Greater Yellowstone Area in 1995

The program will be held even in case of inclement weather—we have a covered area within view of the animals.
